Rhinoplasty procedures in Turkey are usually performed under general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and safety. However, for less extensive surgeries focusing on the nasal tip, local anesthesia might be used. The choice of anesthesia varies depending on the complexity of the surgery and the specific needs of the patient.
The duration of rhinoplasty surgery varies based on the procedure's complexity. Moderate-sized operations using the open technique take about 2.5 to 3 hours, while the closed technique may take 3 to 3.5 hours. Revision surgeries involving rib cartilage removal may take longer.
The use of tampons in nasal surgeries is a common concern. Nowadays, traditional tampons are rarely used. Instead, silicone tampons are placed inside the nose during surgery. These tampons prevent adhesion between the inner and outer walls of the nose. They are soft, flexible, and can be painlessly removed, typically on the 3rd or 4th day after surgery.
Most patients do not experience intense pain after rhinoplasty. Some may feel a slight burning sensation or pressure, but these discomforts are manageable with occasional painkillers. Significant pain is not common.
Turkey is among the top five countries globally for cosmetic and aesthetic procedures, offering a full spectrum of surgical and non-surgical treatments.
